Tips for Your First Grooming Competition
A grooming competition is a great way to show off your grooming skills, whether you’re new to the circuit or a seasoned professional.
When you travel to grooming competitions, there’s a checklist of factors you’ll want to be on top of, to help reduce anxiety in both you and your dog. Here’s what you need to know about making the most of your first grooming competition.
Take a dog who’s companionable and well-behaved. Nothing makes a competition more difficult than trying to deal with a dog who’s easily startled, anxious or ill-trained.
Bring plenty of supplies, including ones that work without power in the event of a power failure during the competition. You’ll also want to make sure you have a crate for your dog if you’re spending the night in a hotel. And bring extra towels and blankets so your dog can lounge without leaving hair on the beds.
